The late CEO of Apple, Steve Jobs, once said that the only way to do great work is to love what you do, an idea which resonates differently with each of us according to our circumstances and conditioning. For some, loving work is an ideal for which to strive. It may be difficult to obtain, but it’s achievable. For others, it’s simply a low priority and not something to think too hard about. Still for others less fortunate, obligation or lack of opportunity have made it increasingly unattainable.
At Loren Fields Remodeling, loving our work is our sole paradigm, which means we’ve made the necessary sacrifices both personally and professionally in order to bring great work to our customers’ doors. On a practical level, our love for our work manifests through order and planning. Therefore, in every dimension of our projects, we apply what we call the three pillars, or “C”s, of the remodeling process: Communication, Cleanliness, and Craftsmanship.
Communication means that we maintain a sufficient flow of information between customer, contractor, and subcontractor, keeping all parties informed and ready.
Cleanliness means that we keep the jobsite swept and tidy, which reduces stress and helps our workers focus on their jobs.
Craftsmanship means that we have the experience and foresight to bring about the best results possible.
We could say that it takes discipline and experience to apply all three over the course of an entire remodel. We could say that, through many years, we’ve vetted all of our subcontractors to bring forward the ones who do good work. Or, we could just say that we love what we do!
